Because on the net nobody knows you're a dog (or more apropos, a dork), I've decided to take the plunge and enter the motorsports publishing industry.
So, I hereby announce the global debut of Metacool Racers, a list on Twitter which attempts to follow all of my favorite motorsports voices on Twitter. Everyone I can find who is interesting and a racer is on here, from Foust to Button to Barrichello to El Gallo. It's a an awesome list of voices and talent, and it will be ever expanding. If you know of someone who should be included, please leave a comment, drop me an email, or send me a tweet.
Lately, when I have the time and opportunity to watch a live race, I do so with at least one laptop open next to me (yes, I'm a carbon-spewing American watching a petroleum-based motorsport). I'll be logged in to one timing and scoring website, and I'll also have a Twitter feed open, too. I tell you what, Ricky Bobby: there's nothing like watching a race and having Paul Tracy sitting there next to you providing live, virtual commentary on the events unfolding on the boob tube. It's awesome and transformative, and potentially deeply disruptive to the networks. Aside from Varsha, Hobbs, and Matchett, (and also the gents who call the ALMS races), I can very well imagine a world where I get my live video feed over the web and my commentary via a specialized crowd of racers who really get it.
So there you go, I'm a motorsports publisher. Tune in to this list if you're interested. And you can also follow me on Twitter @metacool.
Until next time, WFO!
